We are currently running a Mantech Analyser for the analysis of Soil water pH/EC and CaCl2 pH. We are having trouble with the instrument that we can’t seem to diagnose.
We are getting excessively high pH reading for soil in water (up to pH-12). Dosing the CaCl2 into the sample the sample pH returns to a result that we expect to see (ie pH 5.5) so EC in pH and CaCl2 are all OK but pH in soil water is massively elevated We have ruled out any sort of contamination and probe issues.
I have spoken to the instrument vendor who though it could be a problem with a floating earth on the instrument but we are unable to find a problem with it ? Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? How did you solve the problem?
